**Sleep deprivation** is a decreased amount, consistency, or quality of [[sleep]]. For example when someone goes for 30 straight hours without sleeping, or gets sleep that is constantly interrupted, as with new parents.

- Chronic deprivation may lead to *decreased* healing, depression, associated with other major illnesses including depression
